Het is de wil van God dat wij diep ontzag hebben voor alle daden die hij gesteld heeft, omdat Hij wil dat we ons daardoor realiseren  wat Hij allemaal nog zal doen. Dat is hetgeen Hij mij toonde met de woorden: ' En jij zal zelf zien dat elk ding, wat dan ook, goed zal zijn.'

All will be well an all will be well and every kind of thing shall be well.

Maar alles zal goed komen. Elk diing, wat dan ook, zal goed zijn.

Julian of Norwich's (1342 - 1416) Revelations of Divine Love, breathes new life into the fourteenth-century and revealing afresh its wisdom and insights for readers today. At the age of thirty, suffering a severe illness and believing she was on her deathbed, Julian, had a series of intense visions of Jesus. She recovered and wrote down what she had seen and heard. Later in her life, she expanded on them and so created the first book to be written in English by a woman.

Her messages remains one we urgently need to hear today:

* that there is a tender, feminine aspexct to the Divine

* that our failings are an opportunity to learn and grow

* that the nature of God's love is compassion and courtesy

Julian's faith and hope lift us to a place where we can affirm with her that despite appearances to the contrary, 'All will be well and all will be well and every kind of thing shall be well.'

God is our clothing,that wraps, clasps and encloses us so

Julian moet opgegroeid zijn in een voorname en welstellende koopmansfamilie die ruwe wol en afgewerkt laken verhandelde. Kleding trekt spontaan haar aandacht. Al in het eerste visioen benut zij die als beeld om de innige nabijheid van Gods liefde, bijna letterlijk, te verzinnelijken.

'Ik zag dat Hij voor ons elk ding is dat goed is en dat kan helpen om het ons behaaglijk te maken. Onze kleding is Hij, die ons liefdevol induffelt en omwikkelt, ons omhelst en overal raakt, rond ons hangt uit tedere liefde om ons toch maar nooit in de steek te laten.'

In this little thing I saw three truths:

The first is that God made it.

The second is that God loves it.

The third is that God looks after it.
